We had to be smart. I've got to make a full wedding happen on $9000. We narrowed our choices down -- La Fontaine Bleu in Glen Burnie or The Governor Calvert House in Annapolis.
Jimmy was not about LFB. He loved the feeling of TGCH - as did I. However; BOTH places gave us extremely big discounts...and LFB was over $1000 cheaper with a couple more options. We decided that we can't make our decision strictly based on budget [if there's wiggle room]. We needed to also decide on a place that made us happy to be at. TGCH was beautiful. The space was right; it felt like a unique venue [versus a ballroom or basic room] and it was a bit more local.
What helped us lower the price by over $11,000??
- Chose a Friday Wedding over a Saturday - which took away the Food Minimum
- Took Away Open Bar
- Limited our buffet and cocktail hour options [taking away pricey seafood choices]
- Removed the strawberries being served with cake [we could afford 3x the amount if we bought it ourselves]
- Drinks Limited to Coffee, Tea or Water
They still through in free champagne toasts, the free overnight stay and our anniversary dinner! So, we requested a contract and planned on putting our deposit down! So exciting!!
